Lee, an American burlesque entertainer, was one of the most famous strippers of all time, and was proclaimed during her lifetime to be the most publicized woman in the world. She starred in theater, 12 films, and eventually her own television show, "The Gypsy Rose Lee Show" (1958). Anita Arden, burlesque actress, (born Feb. 1916), married British film star Guy Middleton on May 7, 1949. She appeared in musical revues and clubs mainly in New York City, but also toured Europe in the late 1930s, with the U.S.O. during World War II and with Gypsy Rose Lee and others after the war.
